The Typewriter

The EOTO Communications tech timeline piece that another student had researched about, that I am writing about in this post, was the typewriter. The other student that did that presentation was Grayson Rachels.
Being a predecessor to our modern day keyboard, the typewriter was the first and fundamental piece of technology that allowed for faster printing and typing. Grayson notes that he typewriter had a bit of a controversial start to the world, with a patent someone had claimed back in 1714. But it was eventually mass produced for the world in 1874.
The typewriter had help to set up a quicker typing speed with the "QWERTY" key set-up on the key tab. With this layout, it has help to advance the speed and accuracy of print. It has been a major innovation that is applicable to industries including the media, literature, and as Grayson points out, communication as a whole.
Another point that Grayson had made in his post was that it was a lighter type of work or workload, and had brought opportunities to women in the workforce that was greater and better than working in factories.
